c0w and GrasS' loVe sTorY ~.~

-I am GRASS, a green plant, I have fibre and cellulose.

-I am a COW, a herbivoures. I only eat vegetable. My favourite food is grass.

One day, in a greeny field at FarmVille near to Cityville. There was a conversation between 

a cow and the grass.

‘ Hi cow, how are you? Have you take a breakfast?’ ask a grass. 

"I’m great ! thank you but I’m not taking 

breakfast yet because you will be my breakfast!. Ha!Ha!Ha!!!’ answered cow.

‘=.=’ grass respond.

Meanwhile the cow open the mouth to eat the grass suddenly,

“Hey cow! Wait!Wait!! I have my last request before you eat me. How will you eat me and process me 

till the end?" ask the grass curiously.

“Ok then my dear delicious grass, but it will be more fun if you experience it by yourself and I’ll explain it 

along your adventurous journey inside my body. Agree?" deal the cow.

“Hmm… it sounds interesting," grass.

“Are you ready grass? Yummy2 moooooo..” cow eat the grass without wasting so much time and no mercy.

“Auch!Auch!Auch!! you hurt me dude”, grass.

“Relax dear. That’s kinda of massage for you, as human served for spa. It’s good for you and me”, cow.

“Anyway cow, I feel honoured and awkward as you invited me with your rough and wet red carpet", said 

the grass.

"Oh, my pleasure. It actually my tongue - it function as to grasp and gather you and friends, then 

pinch you off between my incisors and dental pad, whereas the wet that you feel is actually saliva-help 

to moisten you as a lotion." simple explain by cow.

"Wow that awesome but I feel like a disaster , earthquake, hurricane, flood, it really hurts me OKAY.. auch 

aww…It punch and kick me hard. And why I become smaller pieces?? Why???" grass.

“Sorry friend,you have no choice.You must go through it.Actually my teeth is on working.I have 32 

teeth in all which consists of 8 incisors on the bottom part and 6 molars on the top and bottom parts on 

each side. My incisors are to modify for biting off you and friends and become to 

bolus." said the cow

"Okay..… hmmm..arhh.. what a relaxing sliding tunnel. It contract and relax. I feel like in a wave stream at 

Sunway Lagoon..",grass.

"There you got it,dude. That is my esophagus and the contraction and relaxation that you feel is a 

peristalsis process conducted by muscle. It will bring you to real adventurous experiences.",cow.

“Wow, what a large hall I enter now? I meet a huge number of strangers here”. grass blurry.

“It amazing right? Now, you are in my rumen -largest compartment and has a textured surface, lined 

with projection termed rumen papillae. Futhermore, the strangers that you met are billion of 

bacteria, protozoa, mold and yeast, work to secrete enzyme necessary for cellulose 

degradation that ruminant able to utilize roughage” answered cow.

“Wow, they look different and fascinating to me. I only know worm, bug, soil and relatives of grass before 

this. Well, maybe I can mingle with them and make new friends”.

“Sure you can, the microorganism digest your fiber and produce volatile fatty 

acid. These fatty acids are absorbed directly through the rumen wall and supply energy needed by me”.

After that,

“Welcome to reticulum to all dearest boluses of grass, here our mutualistic prokaryotes and 

protist (mainly ciliates) go to work on the cellulose-rich meal. As by-products of their metabolism, the 

microorganism secrete fatty acids,” brief the cow.

Suddenly the boluses return to the mouth,

“Ehh, why am I back to the mouth, is the process reach to the finishing line? Hooray !! I’m back to village 

and met with my beloved family”, grass.

“Opss, not too fast buddy, you’re not home yet. This is just only an element of surprise for you. It my routine 

to regurgitates and rechew you (cud) which further breaks down the fibers making 

all of you more accessible to further microbial action”, explain the cow.

“Huh, whats that?”, grass asking.

“Actually, its not a big deal for you even if you don’t understand it. Next, let I show you the way to

the next stage-omasum. Maybe, it would hurt you little”, cow.

In Omasum,

“Arghhh, I feel dehydrated, I really thirsty, I need water, water. I like at the dry canyon. Water !”.

“That what I’ve remind you before. Here, Omasum is a gateaway to Abomasum, filtering large 

particles back to reticularumen and allowing fine particles in fluid to be pass 

to abomasum”, explain cow.

“Then whats next?” the grass asking.

“Okay, now you will enter to abomasum as it function simply like human stomach.”

“Human stomach? I have not experience entering there. What is it?”, grass.

“It look like where you see now, as human stomach will produce acid and some enzyme to start 

protein digestion", cow.

“Ooo…” respond the grass.

"In this abomasum known as true stomach, you (cud) and your new friends (containing great number 

of microorganism) will digested here in much same way. You finally will complete your journey and make 

sure you make a check-out at the small intestine.” further explanation from cow.

“Really? Finally, I finish my journey. I really miss my family, I hope other young grasses can experience it 

too.”

Lastly, the cud go to intestine to pay the services.

“How much I need to pay?” ask the grass.

“We will absorb digested nutrients as the payment and you are a feces now, we will 

assemble all of you first before return to your place.” expain the small stomach of cow.

“I can’t wait for that. As I free from this place, I could be a fertilizer and share my experience to next 

generation and you can eat a healthier grass for the healthier cow.” the grass end up the conversation.
