Random rant on English speaking for non-native speakers
honestly speaking, i think my English is getting worse..
duh, I speak English everyday at work, my boss is a Scottish man and he speaks very 'bad' English.
at first I thought my English is good enough to converse, but after 3 months working with him, wow, I'm starting to questioning myself, I sound less and less confident. *heavy sigh*
because he is a prolific academic writer (I have two bosses, actually) the other one, not the Scottish, has published more than 200 academic papers and book chapters, and he can finish writing one paper in a day, and he's a perfectionist (both of them) in terms of grammar.. okay, now you get where this low self-esteem comes?
sometimes, I pity them LOL
but they never complained...
